About the artist:
Brittany Waters is an Undergraduate Senior at California State Long Beach who is currently in the Sculpture and Ceramics program. Waters is graduating this semester, Spring 2017 with her Bachelor degree of Fine Arts in Ceramic Art. Waters was originally from Sacramento, in Citrus Heights,California. She received her Associates degree in Art Studio in Sierra Community College and transferred to CSULB in 2014. She first became interested in art when she was in middle school where she took art classes that involved ceramics.
Water’s gallery was name #MoreThanASandbox where she created a total of 118 turtles for her gallery. Turtles were so realistic and the beach theme especially adding sad made it more realistic. Each turtle took about 2 to 3 hours just to paint. She was planning to make 150 turtles but ran out of time. Water also added projected Ocean waves on the wall and spread the turtles on the sad. The gallery was beautiful and made me feel like i was at the beach.
I enjoyed Water’s gallery because i myself love the beach. Most importantly the fact that she used her gallery and art to spread awareness about sea turtles.I liked everything about the gallery. The ocean waves projection, sand, and especially the turtles that she individually hand painted.
