For this week’s artist conversation, I had a pleasure meeting Andrea Mejia. Andrea Mejia is a fifth year student at California State University Long Beach. Andrea is in the BFA printmaking program who is expected to graduate in the Fall 2017 semester. Andrea was originally majoring in Business but decided to drop out due to math classes that she had difficulty passing. She decided to major in Art since most of her time is consumed by art.

Andrea’s art was part of the gallery along with other artists. Her art piece pictured above is Alex, a character that is part of a comic that she  has created and been working on. Alex is a superhero character who protects the city from villains.

Andrea’s motto is “Whatever happens, happens.” Which i feel  like she got from her experience with changing major. Maybe Business major was not meant to be for her. She also mentioned more about her comics. She also enjoys writing fictional stories as a way of escaping and almost like getting lost in another world.
